I have always been a storyteller. A frequent question in my house growing up was “Nancy, did you embellish the retelling of that event just to make it more interesting?” (Yes.) I grew up in the suburbs—a sure recipe for a weird kid with an imagination to develop a thirst for everything that wasn’t the suburbs. Real life has its merits to be sure, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Middle Earth.
I have been a reader for most of my life, and a writer for almost as long. My seminal moment came after reading “Redwall” by Brian Jacques; I knew when I finished that novel that I wanted to be a writer for my “real job.” I love stories wherever I find them: books, video games, films, graphic novels. I have filled numerous spiral notebooks with fan fiction, received a degree in English, and even taught English for a few years in my pursuit of the written word.
After trying on an assortment of career hats, in 2014 I made the decision to get serious about pursuing my goal of being a published author. The endless potential of creativity excites me and fuels my efforts, and while I’m very much untested in the publishing arena, I’m too stubborn to quit. I hope you’ll join me on that journey!
